This course examines the theory, methods and procedures of planned staged decompression diving using up to 35% helium to reduce the impacts of nitrogen narcosis to a maximum depth of 45mtrs. This program is designed as a stand-alone course or it may be taught in conjunction with TDI Advanced Nitrox. All of the practical components of the course are the same as TDI Decompression Procedures with additional training on the benefits and hazards of using helium in your breathing mix.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Have a minimum of Advanced Diver Certification , Deep Diver is preferred.
  • Have a minimum TDI Nitrox, PADI Enriched Air or Equivalent.
  • Show proof of 25 logged open water dives.
  • Minimum age of 18.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a stage decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 45 meters using no less than 21% oxygen and no more than 35% helium to remove the hazards and effects of nitrogen narcosis. The most common equipment requirements, equipment set-up and decompression techniques are presented. Combine this course with the TDI Advanced Nitrox course to utilise up to 100% oxygen to accelerate decompression times.
